All six members of the ensemble were trained by instructors of the Ghana national theatre and played for the theatre’s well known youth ensemble, INDIGENAFRIKA. They have been drumming together for the past eight years and have toured Germany, Austria, Holland, South Africa, Benin and Togo. They played together with many world renowned musicians who performed at the national theatre.
The six young men having outgrown the age limit of the youth group, have formed their own ensemble AYEKOO DRUMMERS. In Ghana they thrill audience at various state and diplomatic functions and appear on popular TV shows. They are presently working on their first CD. Their performance in March 07 at Morocco's National Theatre in Rabat was a hit and consequently they were invited to play in August 07 at the prestigious cultural festival in Asilah. At this open air concert the enthusiastic crowd went wild and even five encores were not enough for this audience. In March, summer and fall 2008 they are touring in Europe on different festivals and concert halls.
